This book honestly changed my life. I picked it up from a bargain bin at WalMart on a whim and I cried for three days while I read it. Kelle Hampton’s daughter was unexpectedly born with Down Syndrome and she writes about her journey from falling apart to finding beauty again. When I read this, I finally realized that I wasn’t the only one who thought the world ended with a diagnosis. It was the first step on my journey to peace. I highly recommend it for everyone, especially those of you who are coming to grips with your child’s challenges.
Every special needs parent has to find their own path. This book is written by sisters who are polar opposites but each have children with challenges. They share a lot of practical advice while telling their stories. I love their message but especially the one-size-does-NOT-fit-all philosophy that you’ll find throughout. It is an easy read and full of great tips.
This book is more academic than the others but it is an excellent resource for anyone working with families that include a person with special needs.
